About David Opermann

David W. Oppermann founded Nationwide Intelligence in 1987. At that time he owned several travel agencies in mid-Michigan and realized there was no single source from which to obtain "travel alerts" especially for his corporate travelers. As a previous publisher of national newsletters on other topics, he readily took on the role of Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of the bi-weekly Travel Alert Bulletin and the comprehensive yet concise Briefings on Airlines, Airports, and Cities. He authored the 6-page Bulletin every two-weeks from 1987 though June, 2006…a total of 478 issues of strategic travel information for Nationwide Intelligence clients including numerous Fortune 500 companies.

His other travel-related activities and accomplishments include: (1) Member of the National Travel Agent Advisory Board of Northwest Airlines (1996). (2) Appointed to the MBS (formerly Tri-City) International Airport Service Committee in 1975, elected its Vice-Chairman in 1978, and served as its Chairman from 1981. (3) Has served on the Education and Automation Committees of National Business Travel Association. (4) Speaker at national conferences of ACTE (Association of Corporate Travel Executives) and NBTA. (5) Has lectured to classes on travel and tourism at Central Michigan, Saginaw Valley and Northwood Universities, and Delta College. (6) Profiled in USA Today and quoted by that paper, The Wall Street Journal, and other national publications on matters involving the travel industry. (7) Did a weekly travel segment on WNEM-TV5’s Wakeup News (1992-93). (8) Currently does a one-hour call-in program on travel on WSGW-AM when he is not away on assignments.
